69th Independence  Day was celebrated in colorful  manner at Police Parade ground, Kannur.   Sri. KC Joseph . Hon’ble Minister for Rural Development, Information and Public Relations , unfurled the National Flag and accepted the salute. Platoons from Police, Excise, Forest, NCC  ,Student Police, Scouts ,Guides  and Red Cross etc.. participated in the parade.



The police arrested 42 persons and seized 1.76 lakhs, at a raid held in a club in connection with gambling, at Neerkadavu near Azhikode on Thursday night.  All the people who were arrested were later released on bail.  Sri. Sreejith Koderi, SI of Police, Valapattanam Police station led the operation.




Kannur  District Police has commenced a new beneficial scheme by name ‘Aathuramithram’  with an intention to render financial assistance to poor people suffering  from serious illness .  Preferences will be given for those who are suffering from Cancer, Kidney, Liver, Lungs deceases.  District Police Chief, Kannur and Dy Supdt. Of Police, Special Branch are the Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively of this scheme.  The request for financial assistance may be sent to District Police Chief, Kannur.  All the applications received will be scrutinized and publish a list every month.  The subcommittee formed under Dy Supdt. Of Police, Special Branch, Kannur is authorized to conduct enquiry on the applications and to find out the deserving persons.  The application once rejected will not be entertained again.  The financial assistance will be varied from Rs. 5000/- to Rs. 50,000/-. The cover containing the application should be superscribed as requirement for financial assistance under ‘Aathuramithram’.  The scheme is only for the persons from Kannur district.



The 40th Kannur district Police Athletic Meet was held at Police Parade ground on 11/10/2014 and 12/10/2014.  Sri. K.P. Mohanan, Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Printing and Stationery, Government of Kerala inaugurated the meet.  Police personnel from 4 Sub Divisions, District AR Camp and Special Units participated in various sports events.  Sri. Dinendra Kashyap IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Kannur Range was the chief guest in the closing ceremony on 12/10/2014 and distributed the prize to the winners.  Kannur Sub Division won the overall championship in the meet.
