The inauguration of  Vanitha Police Station, Kannur, newly constructed building of Police Control Room, Kannur, Flag Off of control room vehicles and functioning of  CCTV cameras installed in Kannur Town was done by  Sri. Ramesh Chennithala, Hon’ble minister for Home and Vigilance, Kerala on 11-09-2015.  Smt. P.K. Sreemathy MP, Sri. A.P. Abdullakutty MLA, Sri. Sankar Reddy IPS, Addl. Director General of Police, North Zone, Kozhikode, Sri. P N. Unnirajan IPS, District Police Chief, Kannur, officials  and various political leaders participated.


Sri. Shaji. K S, CI of Police, Kannur City and police party arrested one  Pramod, Kayanadath House, Kuthuparamba On 02-10-2015 at Edakkad.   He is an accused involved in 7 property cases registered in various police stations.  He is in the habit of visiting houses as sales man, locating houses and organise theft.  Stolen gold ornaments weighing about 25 sovereign recovered from him.  Outstanding work done by the police party led to the detection of 7 cases.




Kannur  District Police has commenced a new beneficial scheme by name ‘Aathuramithram’  with an intention to render financial assistance to poor people suffering  from serious illness .  Preferences will be given for those who are suffering from Cancer, Kidney, Liver, Lungs deceases.  District Police Chief, Kannur and Dy Supdt. Of Police, Special Branch are the Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively of this scheme.  The request for financial assistance may be sent to District Police Chief, Kannur.  All the applications received will be scrutinized and publish a list every month.  The subcommittee formed under Dy Supdt. Of Police, Special Branch, Kannur is authorized to conduct enquiry on the applications and to find out the deserving persons.  The application once rejected will not be entertained again.  The financial assistance will be varied from Rs. 5000/- to Rs. 50,000/-. The cover containing the application should be superscribed as requirement for financial assistance under ‘Aathuramithram’.  The scheme is only for the persons from Kannur district.



The 40th Kannur district Police Athletic Meet was held at Police Parade ground on 11/10/2014 and 12/10/2014.  Sri. K.P. Mohanan, Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Printing and Stationery, Government of Kerala inaugurated the meet.  Police personnel from 4 Sub Divisions, District AR Camp and Special Units participated in various sports events.  Sri. Dinendra Kashyap IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Kannur Range was the chief guest in the closing ceremony on 12/10/2014 and distributed the prize to the winners.  Kannur Sub Division won the overall championship in the meet.
